Artist Bio
Davide Borowski’s work begins with the conviction that reality is never given in a stable or innocent form. What we see is always shaped by memory, desire, cultural codes, private obsessions, and the expectations of others. He is drawn to transitional spaces, marginal architectures, gestures, reflections, surfaces, and remains. He looks for places and figures that seem to contain more histories than they openly disclose. His images often emerge from this conflict.
Statement
This project approaches the Mediterranean as a layered territory shaped by movement, erosion, memory and contradiction. The sea is present throughout, yet it rarely appears as an unobstructed horizon. It is glimpsed from trains and buses, framed by ruined buildings, interrupted by railway tracks, electrical wires, urban structures and architectural thresholds. The photographs move between coastal landscapes, neglected interiors, workshops, archaeological monuments and contemporary cities. Ancient stone, religious imagery, popular objects, decaying modernism and transport infrastructure coexist within the same visual space.
